As part of the NYC DOT Press Office, the Deputy Press Secretary will be responsible for conveying information on various NYC DOT initiatives to the media through: writing remarks, press releases, agency statements, and press responses; identifying and pitching media outlets on DOT initiatives; prepping and staffing senior staff for interviews and public events; planning and organizing press events; and coordinating messaging with partner agencies.

Reporting to the agency’s Press Secretary, the selected candidate will also serve as the primary point of contact between the NYC DOT Press Office and community and ethnic media outlets.

Skills they'd like

Experience working in press, government, firm, nonprofit or media organizations is strongly desired. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with ethnic and community media outlets. Outstanding written/verbal communication skills is needed. Fluency in multiple languages is preferred but not required.
