Our diverse set of assets includes recreational facilities, nature centers, historic buildings and structures, golf courses, athletic fields, playgrounds, tennis courts, public pools, public restroom buildings, retaining walls and nearly 14 miles of beaches.
Major Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, supervise Bronx River Conservation Crew, a field-based conservation and river management team.
- Monitor and manage performance and schedule of full-time crew members, seasonal crew aides, apprentices and interns.
Track staff time and activities, interview applicants and develop assessment materials, plan crew training and evaluate performance.
- Develop maps and planting plans for projects involving community partners and volunteers from the surrounding community. Submit information for grant reports and other monitoring reports.
- Attend staff and safety meetings and create procedures and signage to implement recommendations.
- Maintain an inventory of tools and equipment; recommend and handle purchases.
- Support and lead education and outreach activities to involve volunteers, youth and the general public in activities focused around the Bronx River and throughout District 14.
- Coordinate with Administrator on community engagement plan to reach underserved populations of the community and help coordinate Special Events.
