**Reports To**:Startup Lead (NFPS)
**Basic**Function and Scope**:
Expansion Project Telecomms support activities, which may include pre-comm1ss1oning, commissioning, preservation and start-up tasks. Assist IT functions and provide detailed IT/Telecommunication technical expertise to maintain telecoms support environment and resolve day to day issues.
**Tasks and Duties**:
Participates in pre-commissioning/co mmissioning, preservation and start-up of new equipment & facilities.
Carries out routine operations that control data processing, peripherals, and communications and networking equipment, including mantainance, start-up, shutdown and normalre-start procedures under supervision.
Carries out routine monitoring, logging and reporting tasks under supervision. Reports problems and other unforeseen or exceptional events to supervisor. Carries out and observes all associated administrative and clerical procedures.
Uses management systems software and appropriate analysis equipment to collect routine statistics, and create reports as required.
Carries out routine configuration/installation and reconfigured of Telecommunication system hardware and software.
Responding to instructions or following agreed plans, installs or removes Telecommunication system hardware and/or software, using supplied installation instructions and tools ; follows agreed procedures, including those for wiring work. Takes defined action on simple problems, confirms correct funct ionality of Telecommunication system hardware and software installations and advises supervisor and, if appropriate, users.
Following agreed procedures, gathers information to enable incident resolution and promptly allocates incidents as appropriate.
Reports to Senior Telecoms Engineer/ Telecoms Foreman
Regular contact with IT Peers and Team Leads/Section Heads.
Regular contact with industry vendors.
**Independence of Operation**:
Devises work methods according to general directives, Company policies and specialized professional standards.
60% Desk base and 40 standing and walking
100% non air-conditioned environments, exposed to prevailing weather conditions of heat, grease, dirt, noise and fumes.
High Diploma degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics, Information Systems or other relevant discipline.
Minimum 3 years of IT experience (ideally within Oil & Gas industry)
Conversant with relevant IT national and international standards
Demonstrated experience in project management
Demonstrated experience in IT support environment.
Good written and spoken English
Good interpersonal skills.
Good analytical problem-solving skills.
Specialized technical expertise and broader IT knowledge
Compliance to risk, security and continuity management principles
As defined for this job level in the Delegation of Authority and/ or approved budget.
Operates within a well structured environment with a clear reporting framework and documented departmental procedures available.
The duties of this position are mainly carried out within the Company’s office environment.
**Problem Solving & Job Complexity**:
Undertaking tasks of a more complex nature and acting as a source of guidance to less experienced staff in the area.
